Two Arrested at Thai Border for Smuggling Cambodian Worker

BATTAMBANG: Special Forces of Sampov Loun Police, in cooperation with the Phnom Dey Border Police, arrested two smugglers who attempted to illegally transport a Cambodian worker across the border into Thailand on August 10. The suspects were caught in Battambang province near the Cambodia-Thai border.

The smugglers were arrested along with a Cambodian worker who was smuggled into Thailand for 4,500 baht (more than 530,000 riel). After the arrest, the police brought the two suspects and worker from Phnom Dey Border Crossing (Kilometer 13) to the Sampov Loun District Police for questioning and to put the incident on record.

The police then asked the worker to sign an agreement to cross the border legally next time and allowed him to return home. As for the two suspects the police prepared a case file and sent it to the provincial specialized office for further legal proceedings.
